In light of the attrocious shooting attempt on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar yesterday evening (30th May 2010), how should the spiritual and good natured people deal with such terrorists and evil doers?

Guruji says …by talking to them…listening to them…everyone’s a victim inside somewhere…that innocent child hurts somewhere inside…give it love and progress happens…animosity dissolves and dissipates…peace grows inside….Jai Gurudev!
In this moment all that matters is our Master’s wish–immediately after this incident Guruji spoke to his devotees in another Satsang and said that we should ignore this and move on…if anything, this ought to spur us on into doing His work in fast forward mode…reaching out to as many people as we can…thats what should resound in our hearts, minds, and actions…we are blessed to have Him…to be here in this time with our Master…ponder not but DO!

I believe attack on Guruji was an prime cause of ignorance at its peak. I wish that person could attend a basic course and experience the real world. He is surely living in his own world with no control over his emotions.
About the question how to tackle these people is by understanding that no one is born a terrorist, they were born like just any other child so the work starts from the child level, get more and more children in to the knowledge of spirituality(belongingness, love and happiness). Spread the knowledge at more pase and get it penetrated into the education system through the help of local government bodies.
Not only schools but also religious institutes should be institutionalized as it was in the ancient times when temples were not just idol worship place but a place of knowledge and serenity. Parents should be made more responsible of bringing up there children with good values. Societies should be made more communicative by organizing AOL(Art of living) courses more often.
TV media is very influential in todays world, it can be used in right way to educate the young and others in a affective way. AOL(Art of Living) Channel can be started in order to make the knowledge more approachable.
But most of all we all need to take responsibility of things that affect us in any way. We need to stand strong for our human rights and build more faith and trust amongst mankind. As Guruji says we all should thrive towards SSSS (Sadna, Seva, Satsang, Sudarshan Kriya) for everyone’s betterment.

Sanjib, I asked my 13 years daughter the reply of your question. She is speaking and I am just re-iterating her words as it is.
“Listen to terrorists first,,,what make them act like this, analyse their problems and then tell them the right solution to those problems.
We know that it won’t be fun for anyone to kill people for any purpose rather we can help them by suggesting better solutions to those problems as we may suggest them to join the army and curb that ruthless acts. Then state to them that Why do they want people to be afraid of them when they can make people proud of them.”

and early in the morning it is so shocking to hear such kinda news…how can someone think of doing such act of hatred for GURUJI ..who has spread love all over the world…I hope he is FINE and i just want to check what happened in detail..I cant just think of remembered Mahatma Gandhi
..right now…and Indira Gandhi…and Rajeev Gandhi…all great pople who became target and Nation has to suffer the loss of Great HUMANS just because of the hatred and vilonce in some persons against them…seriously it is not so simple to think on this subject related to terrorists…and how to deal with them..as there is not only few things invloved in this
…there are so many factors and persons and countries involved that we cant even think and guess their motives and their intentions and the preparations terrorists do to act on certain targets…it is not a single day or instant things..long term plannings starting from provoking the religion or place or someother feeling of youth and then training them by so called CARETAKERS of REliGIONS…with purely their own motives but convincing the youth they they are fighting in the nam of GOD
…and they wil go to heaven if they get ready to involve in this…as it is called SHAHADAT…by them..and unknowingly youth get trapped sometimes becos of ignorance sometime becos of money ..and sometime because of their personal hatred they have suffered from in their lives because of wrongs done to them by some other people…and this hatred is beautifully converted into more n morre violence by the leaders of terrorists
…like they a flame inside their hearts and someone converting it to fire…that can burn the whole world..and people and the poor terrorists who are supposed to create terror they themselves get so scared…when they realise that it is not that only other people wil suffer but their own families loved ones can be burnt in the fire that they have lit themselves but til they realise it it is too late for them as it is like a DALDAL mud in which u can enter and can never come out it.
..so this Serious issues need to be called upon thank you Sanjib for this effort of having started this topic…may we able to hear the steps that can help to deal with Terrorists ..i m still in shock of the news..regarding GURUJI….wish to hear the views from our yoga club members and get back to discussion…regards and love to all …rekha..

I do not think we can term that guy as a terrorist? He is some sick guy with much negetivity. Sri Sri is a divine person and in no way anyone can harm him or his efforts.

….am on my vacation and got really worried when i first heared the news….but feel so calm and serene now that i know all is well. i feel sad for the guy who tried to shoot gurudev. just pray for him that he realizes his misdeeds…gurudev give him that strength….. LOVE U GURUDEV….
regarding coping with terrorism yes we have to first find the root causes as i said in my initial coment why people become terrorists so that we cud deal with them better..and make therm realise that even someone has done wrong with them…it is not solution to harm so many innoncent people in return of harm or hurt tehy may hve got because of certain specified people
…and even if they hurt others will they get back their closed one back..or after a terrorist does attempt an attack…does he get his mental relief or happiness back with his family …no as most of the casee either they dont survive themseves or keep repenting what they have done…
so youth should be taught with moral values they may belong to any religion that they should not be miscarried with anti social elements…and in ignorance become terrorists..

it sadens me to hear such an act from the person on our guruji who is doing yeoman service to the mankind on this planet, we need to understand the root cause of the thinking of those people,most of the time it is but influenced by an external force ,even then the person who falls for such kind of influence should be punished !!! or managed in such a way that they will be isolated from the world !!! only then the fear of such punishments may reduce such incidents I hope!!!
He knows all. Just follow his footprints. Only time will tell us whAt big mind has in store in this event. Seva of bringing needy people to knowledge is handy for all of us.

It has been a violent act by someone not of sound mind, and I doubt that Sri Guruji, who all his life is full of love and peace for all, would be storing such karma that he would leave this world as a result of a violent act like this. Maybe we will see more security around him after this though.

It just goes to show, nothing can overcome the power of love, and whatever evil we may face in front of us, it’s nothing compared to the power of collective consciousness which lies within us all…
An attack on one spiritual solider will be answered by all…. answered with love, compassion, resilience, determination and faith in a higher force.
Nothing or no-one can can ever destroy the spirit of a true seeker, if anything, such mindless acts of violence and attention seeking actions, can only strengthen our resolve.
Evil tried, but spectacularly lost……let them try again, we’ll be waiting…. evil may have its own plans, but the divine also has his…… and ultimately the divine always win, as love truly conquers all…

In the company of those who practice meditation and yoga, any kind of animosity is dissolved. Meditation and Sadhna is the only way to finish the animosity in the world today. This evening, a terrorist entered the Ashram. He fired a shot but it didn’t cause much harm to anyone. His heart also got transformed after coming in this field of spiritual energy. The effect of divine energy is such that it transforms all the negative tendencies in the mind. He also dropped his wish to cause much harm. Whatever has been said in Yogasutras,Tat sanidho vair tyaga, is very true – One gets free from the feeling of animosity in the company of truth, in the company of those who practice meditation. So, this message of yoga and meditation is to be taken in every house across the country. Such an incident also happened when we were to celebrate silver jubilee. Some people tried to threaten us, and asked us not to do any function. But our conviction was so strong, and I knew that the function would surely take place.
Some naxalites are coming to Ashram in few days. They expressed their wish to meet me. They will sit with us and participate in the satsang, any negative feeling they may have will be transformed, and they will blossom like flowers. So, I welcome all those who are involved in any kind of violent actions. Transformation happens in this divine energy.
People often ask me about the need of publicity and spreading this knowledge, to which I say it is not possible to have a peaceful society unless this knowledge reaches everybody. I don’t need anything for me. But it is necessary to bring peace in the society. That is why it is so necessary for each one of us to work for welfare of the society. If each one takes responsibility to bring spread this knowledge, how beautiful this society will be. Isn’t it? So, move ahead knowing that you have a shield of divine energy which is protecting you.

The malice of hatred and violence has dug deep into the psyche of man. Its tentacles have originated from many causes: the main one being that man has moved away from his spiritual nature as he had done for so many tens of housands of years in the vedic age, which had spread across the entire world….when man was living for his soul and not solely for his life. The time has arrived to reinvent the vedas and reinfuse it into the modern society…a responsibility that each one of us has to undertake personally…each one for himself and in his own way…
A criminal is not born is but made…crimes are the cries of a criminal made…

Everybody has to act….means to do more & more meditation taking positive actions on the planet, need to take more & more responsibility….the Gir( Mountain) is already holded by Guruji we have to just place our stick below the mountain…
Another perspective to yesterdays immoral act could also be that behind every incident there is a divine plan, and a lesson for us to learn. The person who was in the wrong yesterday was trying to cause physical injury from the space of violence. He was not a bad person but made a “bad choice”
However, each one of us harbour the hidden terrorist in our minds. We have all spoken beautifully about the wrongful act of the man and how quickly we came forwrad to judge him and even pardon him.
What about our own minds that is continuously harming our inner consciousness and our gurus through every wrongful thought, action and deed?
Let each one of us pledge to do our guru’s work with greater reverence and try not to cause any harm to our Divine Teacher, who has only loved us inspite of so much pain/ suffering we unknowingly give him through our immoral acts and thoughts.

There is only Love. Everything else is illusion in my experience of the ONENESS. Condemnation is conflict. Terrorists have pain so, we can only be compassionate. I am so delighted that modern science is catching up with what all the great spiritual leaders and philosophers have been saying for centuries. Quantum Science is proving that we are creating our lives out of thought / love, and that we are totally connected…..At last!!!
Such an atrocious act by these perpetrators…..glad to hear that Guruji is safe……these terrorists are heartless and full of hate…death is written in their blood…….
