Discussion – “If You Could Start Your Life Over Again, What One Thing Would You Do Differently & Why?”

By Sanjib Mukherjee,

Reflection of your time on earth is perhaps one of the most important aspects to spiritual growth. If you were to take a time out right now and start your life all over again, what one piece of advice would you like to give yourself to ensure you lived to your full potential?

  1. Dear Sanjib,

    Jai Gurudev!

I love this question and my answer is very strait forward. I would start my spiritual knowledge (Art of Living), Upanishads and Vedas knowledge at an early age and devote my entire life in serving people.
As service is the best and the quickest path to salvation…

    Jai Gurudev!

  2. Esse-Riekje

Sanjib, I really don’t know, my life ran as it should and I am very happy and lucky with all the blessings and my path, though it was and still is not an easy life.

  3. Mila Paripovic

If we know what we would change, than why do we need another chance? Just do it! Change that straith away. We can start our life again!

    Hi Sanjib…

so how to explain it what we would like to do…me want to do so many things that i would love to start it all over again…and do.. like i want to go back in my young age and learn music and dance and art more of creativity….and ometime i feel i could go back and do medical or engineering and study more and more like collegiates and enjoy college life again and have fun…again …
but all this cant be done but my spirit of doing something great is there and i really want to do it

…i want to ENHANCE INTERNAL BEAUTY …and WANT TO GROW UP GRACEFULLY and want to STUDY AND LEARN MORE AND MORE.. and ALWAYS WANT TO WRITE TILL END…

change in thoughts may come but it shoule be encouraging and positive change..and i would like to express my thoughts always and would like to write and through this i would like to bring change in people ‘s life

Thinking of starting my life will be the sign of dissatisfaction with this life..
What I believe that each n every life v get is perfect in itself n v can make it better by realizing ourself..

Many times,I have many complains with my life..I may b disappointed many times with it.. But every time, when i think deeply..i find that GOD has given this life to me so that i could learn from it that part which i was somehow not able to understand in my past life.. If i dont get it now that each life is to learn the golden lesson of LOVE(in true sense),then i ll lack that wisdom ways..which knowledge, education n teachings of life want to give me

    ..Love is to b felt everywhere,towards ourselves,towards people,towards parents,towards animals,towards god,towards situations….etc..
So, i ll say, though i may get manier times frustrated with life n situation, become angry n even may curse it..I know somewhere deep inside that I am in a learning process n have to learn it

.. n i dont want a reincarnation to learn it again.. i want to complete my schooling in this life so as to carry the wisdom to the next life..where i ll get more to learn about.. n if i dont get to learn completely this life,i know i have to in next one.. But, i wanna give my best to learn this time instead of thinking about a restart.. I ll say, i ll change my attitude, change my thaughts at this moment only,no matter if i have to say it again n again.. its never late to learn..or to wake up..:)

At last, m just in kinder garten n hav been tryin to rise to next class since long time..n i ll keep trying…….

Thank u so much SANJIB for posting this question, u helped me start my day with some positive thaughts again..

If I got any chance to start my life again, then there will be one thing surly “Different”. Then I will do AOL courses from my childhood. I am sure that by following AOL teaches from childhood I can grow up in a better way & can do something better from now.

Getting “Guru Grace” from childhood can really make someone’s life “Different”. :-) :-)

  10. Uphar Chawla

From starting i would like to do art of living course

  11. Sanjib Mukherjee

@Mila, …your absolutely right…starting life again doesn;t necessarily mean dying and going back to day 1, it can also mean how we proceed from this moment onwards..:)

  12. Himadri Sankar Roy Choudhury

i will change nothing. I had a beautiful childhood,a amazing teenage life and a wonderful married life.

  13. Belinda Joubert

Hmm divine timing is perfect BUT I will start very early to learn Yoga (i still cannot do) & meditation & spiritual teachings :) I adore God & virtue and doing good for all & just want to share all the time (the little I know) God bless :)

  14. Pragna Rathod

First say sorry to those who were hurt by me,knowingly or unköwingly, dil’pe koi booj na rahe n would like to see al those whome I love a lot

  15. Kalyani Sengupta

Am happy and contented wherever I have reached today, does not matter the route which I have taken to reach here. Only thing I wish, I would have gone to a Gurukul instead of going to a Nursery School to know “Who am I and Why am I here” before knowing “How to survive in this World “!!! Thanks Sanjib for your beautiful thoughts !!!

  16. Vanaja Chandrashekhar

Thanks Sanjib it is a very good question makes you ponder about your happiness.I am happy & contended. If one has to change it has to be in the past. which is not there. Everything is perfect in the present even if it is not according to us.

  17. Parag Raichura

I if get a chance i would ask for never coming to this earth, never suffering ever again,,no life no feelings no worries no comitments

  18. Valsaladevi B Kaima

@Pragna, why do u have to wait until ur death sentence, why don’t u do it now, u get a fresh start.

  19. Himadri Sankar Roy Choudhury

Were it offered to my choice, I should have no objection to a repetition of the same life from its beginning, only asking the advantages authors have in a second edition to correct some faults in the first— Benjamin Franklin

  20. Kalyani Sengupta

@ Himadri… Wow ! .. True, just need to correct some faults in the first…

But again, from that fault you have reached here, where you have reached surrounded by so many beautiful people today…. so much of joy, love and happiness around…

Main thing is learn from the mistake and go ahead… Mistake is only mistakes when you repeat it !!!

  21. Nishi Agarwal

I would seek out Guruji from the first moment that I became sentient and from then on would give the reins of my life in his hands.

  22. Anju Khattar

live in the moment and why think abt it take each day as it comes we dont choose universe chooses us universe is a giver by thinking we spoil our chances of getting what universe thinks best for us we shd just accept everything with simlicity and clear concious

  23. Natalia Rimarchuk

I would try to keep my family………only that….

  24. Bhavyata Jethva

the only one thing I would do differently is, to come in contact with G as soon as possible, without wasting so many years of my life … like in this birth………. :(

  25. deepa.meloot

    Good Morning Sanjib!!

I like the way my life has one so far…ups and downs….success has made my heat fill with gratitude and downs have only made me strong and spiritual. I am thankful to the divine for everything that I have been through.

Yeah there is something I would go back and change(if I could…) and that is I would pick up my cycle and persistently learn to ride it no matter how many times I fall. As a kid I feared falling and hurting myself again after my first fall…..:o(

That’s it…small wish, but it means a lot to me.

    Love
    Deepa

  26. Rekha Malhotra

when the right time comes we ourself from inside feel like changing oursleves and open to change…otherwise when we dont feel open to change NO ONE CAN CHANGE US..so to bring change first we have to make our mind and heart open to changes…and LONG LASTING CHANGES WILL HAPPEN ONLY WHEN HEART AND MIND DECIDE TOGETHER….

  27. nishta patel

I wud do more voluntary work for children’s charities.I had a gud childhood, and wud wish every child to have the same…
I wud NOT get married,as marriage is too much commitment….

  28. Sanjib Mukherjee

Your absolutely right Seema… we are all extensions of the divine. But somewhere along the way, very few of us actually live a divine life to our highest potential. Hence the question, what could we each do differently to manifest our inner brilliance to its maximum…

  29. jogana kira va

its not me who is asked to do something

  30. Teresa T.

The one mistake I truly regret is the decision that I did for my heart. And it’s the one that hurt my life the most. The one piece of advice that I would give myself is… listen to your intuition, tough it out, you left the bad behind for a reason.

  31. Gomathi

I wish , i had a live alone within myself without any attachments.

  32. jeff

I would have saved my soul-mate Michele i blew it and hate me ever since
I would go back and show her how much her death hurt me and we would be here together now
