  1. This one came immediately to my mind.

Actually, I encountered the same advice a long time ago while reading a book by Raymond Abellio (I don’t remember which one).

The rule is **to never compare yourself to anyone. Never.”

(Règle d’or: “Ne jamais se comparer à personne. Jamais.”)

The psychological change it entails is remarkable.

I have some others. Next time, maybe. And thanks for the opporturnity. Good idea, this question :)

  2. REKHA MALHOTRA

    hi loup..kibiloki..bonjour…
.i think you have give the best advice to never compare yourself with anyone ..never..so true..as when we compare ourself with others either we feel superior or inferior in both cases we feel separated from our selves…so instead of comparing ourselves with others it is best to BE OURSELF…only…and try to be best in that…thank you so much for sharing this advice…regards from Rekha..:)

  3. @Rekha, As I told you about my younger daughter, my Little Buddha……
    “Her explanation on comparison”
“My comparison is with myself only. I don’t compare me with anyone in this world. When I asked her what does that mean? She said, looking at my previous performance, I have to improve for betterment in any sector. No other comparisons needed”….Thats all.

“Be at peace with yourself” – A very fantastic advice from a very special friend

  5. Sreebha Kumar

thanx to sanjib because of him we are getting so much advices right now isntt

  13. Rekha Malhotra

hey hemaji…nice to hear from you…and i truly believe sometime you know we meet some people just once and then from them also we unknowingly gather something as good advice…like sometime i really feel so poor people when they get tired sleeping on roads

…so relaxed they look …and we in our luxury homes still tensed not having sound sleep so these ppl have not given advice directly but i took it as advice that it is not the bed or house that can make us feel relaxed we can feel relaxed and sleep well if we also work like these workers

…and i have seen so many workers they stay happy living in the moment they dont have enough for that they have to worry for storing and or get stolen from them..they just earn spend and happily eat without any worries of future…so we people have to read to get knowledge or convince ourselves but some persons are already in that state of mind and happy in their own natural ways….so impressive sometimes..:)

sure Anjali i am all the time thankful to Sanjib for uniting us all..and giving us chance to have discussions on such things..:)

  14. Sudha Rai

    Yogasth kuru karmani…

  15. Anjali Bhargava

    Rekha very well said

  16. Hema Sreekumar

Rekhaji,u have given a thought to people who only live in the present…Guruji always says live in the present & as u said its these people who really do it.Gud thot & how u have linked it with the topic.sure these are unsaid advices v get…Thanks for sharing this Rekhaji..
u too adding ji ….I think I have to listen to u now…..shall try to change …ji

  17. Komal Wagh

Listen to your HEART….Best advice given to me by Sanjib …

  18. Rekha Malhotra

hi sudha can you please explain this in simple terms for all..:)

thanX Anjali you always inspire me otherwise i think people get bored of my so much talking…love you..:)

ok ji hema ji as u wish ji…seeing the topic i have not thought of that what advice we can mention here but just talking with all of you this though also came …and thanks for liking it….:)

sometimes the hard working passionate people they working on their own project they are not saying us to work hard…but just obseving them we get best advice to WORK WITH PASSION IF YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE BIG DREAMS..and such a person i just came across and seeing him i can now relise the defintion of the Word PASSION it self…so i was teling to my kids that how come you people dont have that spirit in your young age that i find in some of my generation people so it is not related to age..but i know just my saying wont bring such passion in them but atleast my inspiring them with giving example of MY PASSIONATE FRIEND …regularly it may bring atleast some positive changes in them…and one day they can also achieve this passion and successs….in life…:):):

hi Komal good to see you today in discussions…and i m really happy to know that the best advice u recieved is also given by SANJIB…. listen to ur heart…very nice of u to share this in discussion…and agree to it…as we hear we want to hear from people we talk what we like to talk about but We will feel what heart wil make us feel and that wil be truth…
so LISTEN TO YOUR HEART AND SOUL…as this is indeed better than trusting all other five senses…which may lie to us…:)

Yogastha Kuru Karmani”. The entire emphasis in the Gita is: “Wherever you may be, and whatever you may be doing you must be in a state of Yoga. You must be closely linked up with the Universal Soul. You must be closely linked up with the Divine, and thus linked up, you must perform your activities”.
@Sudha…I have tried to find the meaning or ur statement and explain in simple words…but if you think that there is some more you can add to make us understand you please share here…:)

@ Romy Sanjeev..i wud like to hear from you that how you find it best advice is to CELEBRATE SILENCE….can you pleae tell us about it…

  19. Kavita Kavita

Advices received from my younger daughter are very precious to me. I call her Little Buddha. My little Buddha is 13 now. When I listen her speaking about any topic, I feel she got immense knowledge of Vedanta, Puranas, Upnishads, Bhagwad, without even going through it. In last 10 years, I have heard her speaking on many topics eg. fear of death, parenting, relationships, friendship, departure of your dear ones, education and what not…

  20. Rekha Malhotra

hey Kavita amazing YOUR LITTLE BUDHHA is so cutely tells you everything…very nice to hear that…convey our love to her…:)

  21. Kavita Kavita

    Sure, Rekha…Thanx…..:)

  22. Rekha Malhotra

some other great advices we recieve from Gita is karmanay vadhikar astay maphaleshu kadachana….we have right to do our duties but not on our results…
and Guruji always give so many best advices like NEVER GIVE UR REMOTE Of HAPPINESS IN OTHER HANDS.

..as we mostly give ..and we feel happy when someone says good about us then upset if someone says bad…so we should not think so much about others…otherwise our thoughts also keep effected…

and some advice i want to give as i realised that LET GO OF FAKE THINGS OF YOUR LIFE…HOW MUCH BEAUTIFUL OR CHARMING THEY ARE TO EYES…THEN ONLY WE GET GENUINE THINGS AND PEOPLE….

and one more is THERE ARE TWO PERSPECTIVES ALWAYS TO LOOK AT THINGS OR EVENTS..if we stay happy circumstances will appear happy and if we sad they also become sad..so try to stay HAPPY from within…so that other things and people dont bother us much…

and BUILD YOUR RELATIONSHIPS BASED ON THOUGHTS rather than good looks..sweet words ..as Relationships based on this will last long…EVERLASTING AND AKSHAT…

WHEN WE GET AFFECTION OF OTHERS DUE TO OUR THOUGHTS WE GET TRUE HAPPINESS instead of getting momentary pleasure we get due to our looks or young age or our intelligence or our profile or our position…

  23. Sanjib Mukherjee

wow…responses have been awesome..am learning so much!

most profound advice I have ever been given is to never let you success go to your head, and never let your sorrows go to your heart….

    so simple, yet so profound…:)

  24. Kavita Kavita

True, Sanjib. Success is not permanent, failure is not fatal. Nothing is permanent, except change. Simple, enjoy the journey.

  25. Belinda Joubert

I do not know yoga but in meditation it is breath… bless :)

    Adjust and accept..by my mom!

  31. Poonam Lakhiani

Have recieved loads of advices over the years but the best ones were when something unusual would happen in my life and i would not be able to take it

I was told that NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN …AISA BHI HOTA HAI AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

It helps me from getting hurt at any situation and makes me live in hope that all times whether good or bad, pass by.All we can gain, is just an experience or learn a lesson.

  32. Jyoti Lalwani

The only person u can change is urself.:)

  33. Rachna Tulsian

The advice/ quote that has touched me the most and has helped me to bring me back to the moment of truth, in times of sadness is:

Being happy and always smiling brings a person nearer to god than a prayer. So keep smiling, this too shall pass.

  34. Sunil Talwar

    live and let live

  35. Rekha Malhotra

@Poonam…reallly this is very good advice “this too shall pass” and this small statement give so much strength whenever we get into problems…and feel desperate just thinking this makes a lot of diffrence as we know that like everything problems also have lifetime of their own…and will go away….thank you so much for reminding this …

@Rachna…I always read ur coments and like it …as you say as cutely as you are…thanks for ur advice of smiling … always… i believe the smile is such an awsome gift that costs nothing but stil give so much happiness to giver as well as reciever…may god bless you…and surely u always keep smiling as seen and as you given the advice to all …:):):

Thanks Sunil …so natural and good advice that is summarizing all aspects of life “LIVE AND LET LIVE”" as just this though can teach us patience., cooperation, adjustments , and unity…and ofcourse thinking of processes of our growth also….thanks to all of you i m really enjoying today all the advices …all are BEST in their OWN WAYS…:)

  36. Poonam Lakhiani

Thank u Rekha, but actually todays discussion has been a learning ground for all of us.Thanks Sanjib and to all the friends for participating and creating an enlightening atmosphere today.

  37. Civil Engr Shukla

Do not steal anything. Any material, any faith or anything anything

When we cheat anybody, we steal the faith
When we capture any poor’s land, we steal his peace of heart

So this is a lesson in life : DO NOT STEAL ANYTHING

  38. hi rekha…while discussing today topic with u i immediately strike one advice from one of my friend …earlier i was very reserve and don’t mixed up with everyone….but one day she advice me that don’t hesitate in making frds…because if u have already some good frds it does not mean that a new person have no space in life ….every person creat their space without disturbing others ….i really like this one and from that onward i have a group of good friends and that increasing day by day…

    with love kajla

  39. REKHA MALHOTRA

yes Kajla thanks for comenting and joining us in discussions…and you are right it is a great advice..yes we can have so many friends in life still we everyone can have unique place in our heart depending upon the bonding …and i have already taken so many advices from you in so many years in my ever up and down phases of life…and now i have joined so many new friends but still you wil always have a unique place in my life…as you know me well and have felt my every feeling…thank you so much for all that you did for me sharing and caring…i am so lucky to have you in my life…and thanks for this advice also…lots of love and care…Rekha…

  40. Rekha Malhotra

good advice shukla ji..cheating or stealing or breaking trust i really bad…
but i want to add some lines :
if we want to steal something…then steal someone’s heart..
if want to steal somthing…steal the worries from one’s life..
if want to steal something…steal their diseases…
if want to steal something ..steal their bitterness
if want to break something…break the records..
if want to break something..break the ice ..
so these kind of stealing is not bad..i think …
so even stealing not bad sometime…:):):.

  41. Purnima Sharma

Simple question, but making us travel through our entire lives thus far:) …having great moments of reflection, as i believe we can learn something from everyone. And everything’s a learning experience.
My favorite at the moment, maybe because I am at that stage of raising kids – You are living your kids memories

    Regards – Purnima

  42. Purnima Sharma

correction: you are living your kids’ memories

    :)

  43. Pallavi Rao

Best advice i have given is…Be honest with yourself and others…rest will fall in place.

  44. Kaushika Shah

many years ago, my best friend advised me “do what you have to do and feel is best for you”………i did and have never regretted it !!!

  45. Smita Menon

    Expect for the unexpected…

  46. Rekha Malhotra

    @Smita…
yes some days ago someone also gave me this advice..dont expect anything from anyone and you will be surprised that you will be recieving everything from everyone…reading ur advice i just remembered that KOOL advice…:)

@Pallavi…honesty is the best policy ever..with others you can stil lie but you can not lie to yourself…so being honest with yourself is indeed more important…
    thanks to both of you….

  47. Rachna Tulsian

Just to reiterate I love the advise not because it tells me to smile but because the understanding behind why we should ALWAYS smile and be happy. Each time I forget to smile or be happy the quote reminds be that I am moving one step, away from my beloved. Smiling and being happy is the shortcut to our guru’s heart whereas prayers might take years to be answered. :) :) :)

  48. Shah Naidoo

Live everyday as if its your last day.

  49. Marta Alcaraz Urrutia

    hi Sanjib. Jai Gurudev !

  50. Revathi Krishna

The best – Leave everything in God’s hands and you will see God’s hand in everything. A close second – Patience is just waiting for God’s timing.

  51. Sanjib Mukherjee

For me it’s difficult to name one person..I get inspired so easily by everyone…whenever I see someone living their dreams, or facing a challenge head on with full spirit and guts, that’s when I feel uplifted the most. Whether the person be an icon like Nelson Mandela or fictional like Rocky…. I get fired up by them all..!

  52. Rekha Malhotra

so True Sanjib …every thing every person we come across can inspire us…to do something good something great…

The best was to learn Pranic Healing and now I am a Pranic Healer and it gives me so much positive things in my life, a better health , a better spiritual life and a better family life.

  59. Dinesh Vijaywargiay

    Wonderful Topic..
I have been reading the wonderful articles of the blog, which inspires me and helps me to move on. This post made me think and share something:
    NEVER COMPLAIN
I go by the above principle.. we should look at the positive side of any situation (good or bad).

    No demands, no complaints !

  60. Kana Masi

    just know yourself

  61. anupama rao

all five fingers are not same then why compare to every one its own but if u have to learn something good from someone then u should learn from them bec in the mind take one good compliments and leave the rest

  62. anupama rao

i think guruji said see what good is there in everyone and forget the insults and bad things and take advantage of the good things in life becauese the mind likes all beautiful and good things but because of maya we try to measure and get stressed so best be childlike and live in the present moment
